Jane Austen fans ought not miss this wonderful debut adaptation of Mansfield Park meets The Vanishing Half. Funke is the best Fannie.
With an international flare, the reader is swept up into a collision of cultures and ideals about class. You'll be rooting for Funke the whole way through, and devastated by the misfortunes that befall her. True to Austen though, a happy ever after will be reached and readers will enjoy the roundup.

As a Janeite, I'm always curious how new adaptations tackle the original works and Nikki May's adaptation of Mansfield Park was stellar!
Funke IS Fannie. I loved Funke so much and she was an excellent cultural personification of Fannie in how she was taught to rise above, care for others, always do the right thing, and yet be thrown into a situation where the world around her operates by different rules than she is used to.
