This one was so much better than Songbird and Snakes!
I did not like the prequel about Snow, finding him to be a very irredeemable character. But I was pumped for this prequel about Haymitch's time in the Hunger Games. And we actually learn more about Snow in this book that I liked better.

A prequel that lives up to the hype!
Fans of The Hunger Games will be excited to reenter the world of Panem and the 12 Districts in this prequel that follows Haymitch Abernathy in the 50th Hunger Games. Familiar characters and new will keep you turning pages to find out how he wins the games (not a spoiler if you've read the original trilogy). But also, the aftermath of this initial rebellion and the ripple effects it makes.
