From the Bookshelf of La Crescent Public Library…

[close] Our January book club selection was Hidden Valley Road and wow were our readers stunned by the contents, the medical history, and the survival of the Galvin family.

We did have some members opt out of reading this one as the content could be harder for those dealing with mental health concerns in their family. But there were also members who felt they left with better understanding after reading the book given what we learn about the advancements of psychology around schizophrenia (or lack thereof).

Overwhelmingly, the group discussed the family members and how hard this must have been for all involved.

A tougher read subject wise, but many couldn't put it down for how shocking the true story is.
