[close] A thriller unlike anything else! Whalefall is a scientifically accurate thriller, which means the details about diving and ocean life in the story are all possible and make for an intense and crazy race for rescue!

Jay is struggling with the loss of his father and the shadow he left behind as one of the world's greatest divers. In an attempt to reconcile his own image and grief, Jay sets out to recover his father's remains on a solo dive mission. Instead, he ends up in a battle between a giant squid and a sperm whale, and gets SWALLOWED! The rest of the story is told between scenes of Jay figuring out how he rescue himself with an hour of oxygen left and flashbacks about his relationship with his father and the rest of his family.

I thought the writing was very descriptive and added to the intensity of the situation.
