[close] With most true crime stories, the big question is Who Done it? But in Furious Hours, the who and the why were never in question. This was a story about the infamous Harper Lee and her unsuccessful attempt to pen a book about a high profile murder. A lively group of true crime lovers and true crime first timers came together to discuss our thoughts on the story about a story that never came to be. As a group, we found the book thoughtful and meticulously researched, though at times it felt a little disjointed - as though the author had written 3 separate books and stitched them together. While we appreciated the depth of the history in the book, we all agreed that the narrative was somewhat lacking. I believe we could have collectively given this one a 3 out of 5 stars. While the story of the murder and trial were captivating, the struggles of Harper Lee took on a life of their own and usurped the larger picture.
