[close] Our library hosted a summer book club with this title and everyone LOVED it! All month long, patrons came in to tell us what a page turner it was, how moving it was, how they couldn't put it down.

We met for an hour and a half to discuss and barely got to the questions as everyone had so many reactions, comments, and questions of their own to share. It was a very good discussion with all our members participating and learning from one another. Interestingly, we found ourselves very curious about all the side characters - possibly because we were an older audience reading YA - but we were interested in their backstories and what trauma caused their survival modes and habits, good or bad. We spent a lot of time discussing trauma cycles and the incredible job Sabaa Tahir did writing from multiple points of view in a way that felt honest and heartfelt, really pushing the reader to consider the nuances of relationships when trauma and survival are such key factors.

A excellent read! Everyone recommends it!
