Fans of La Llorona will love this eerie story about her and the larger themes of motherhood and marriage and mother/daughter relationships.
Told in a gripping fashion with jumps into Alejandra’s ancestors points of view, and a curse handed down generations made me want to keep listening longer each time. It’s excellent on audio.

Refreshingly spooky blend of old lore around La Llorona, the weeping woman, and a contemporary mother of 3 who feels stuck in a marriage where her voice has no power.
I loved the back and forth points of view with Alejandra as our main character and then hearing from her ancestors and learning more about her family history along the way. It was an intriguing tease that made me want to keep reading to find out what happened.
