My Sister, the Serial Killer was a fast-paced, quick, and entertaining read. At times, it was even a little humorous - there were some Alexander McCall Smith vibes of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.

What I most enjoyed was how the story unfolded. We open with a body and the sisters each play their role in its disposal, and then the story pans out into what their everyday lives are like. And it's not until the halfway point and beyond that we start to learn much more of their backstory, why t

With almost a fable-like structure, this book flowed fast for a quick and engrossing read. The main focus is the sibling relationship, with elements of patriarchal society and abuse along the edges. It cumulates in the end with a moment that (I still feel) could be read 3 or 4 different ways; currently, they all co-exist in my mind.

Our group wished the ending was more concrete, but we still had a full discussion around the characters, their motivation, and what role beauty plays in a person's life.
