At first, it doesn't seem so bad, annoying if anything, as the film crew makes them repeat lines and suggests routes the competitors aren't sure whether to trust or not. But then, the crew disappears, and no one knows if it's part of the show or if something seriously bad has happened.

Small Game is written by Blair Braverman, dog sled racer and Iditarod competitor who lives in Northern Wisconsin. She's done her own stint of survival TV and writes for Outdoors Magazine. So you know the author is coming into this novel with a wealth of firsthand and researched information. There's lots to think about and learn, as well as the tension on the page as the competitors run into more dire situations and personalities conflict.
