Our library book club read True Biz for its January 2023 selection, suggested by one of our members, and it created one of the best dialogues we've had! Shoutout to the online book kit with additional note from the author, op-ed, recipes, and ASL resources as everyone thought that was cool to have.

We had 10 members in our book club and each of them learned SO MUCH from this book. Sara Novic masterfully weaves in Deaf history and culture throughout the story as well as includes sign in the design and chapter breaks. It was really a thought provoking book that follows three characters' points of view at a School for the Deaf.

We spent a lot of time discussing the history we learned, the lack of well-rounded information about cochlear implants for the public, and what "language deprivation" would mean for someone. None of us had considered or knew much about the topics in this book, so we all were grateful to have read it and learned such a broad understanding of so many aspects about the Deaf community, Deaf pride and culture.

Highly recommended for other book clubs!
