2-3 stars. I liked the writing and the research behind the historical timeline, but I still had a hard time sticking with this title. It was a little bit of a slog for me. At first, I liked the present day story best, then it flip flopped about half way through and I preferred the historical timeline. For me, the characters in the present day timeline didn't change enough, or fast enough, for me to really care for them as a reader. Unsheltered was our March library book club pick. The group that came had mixed feelings about the book, which led to a great discussion. The consensus was that everyone felt the book dragged in some place, but that place was different for each reader and what interested them was different too.
