[close] A collaboration and publication unlike any other! Young adult author and national ambassador for youth literature, Jason Reynolds, has paired up again with longtime friend and artist, Jason Griffin, to write a book told in three sentences. They're long sentences, but that's it. The story and interview at the end of the book, which talks about its inception, is just as fascinating as the book itself. Much of it was created during the early days of the pandemic and the increasing news stories about police shootings and social justice protests. So, Reynolds and Griffin, set out to describe what life felt like for Black youth during that time. The result, Ain't Burned All the Bright, is a very emotional and artistic product that make take ten minutes to read, but much more time to fully understand and recognize.
