What Members Thought

I'm quite sure my review will not be as well received as I didn't enjoy this story as much as many others have. With that said, I found the story to be plodding and not terribly interesting. I cannot pinpoint exactly what it was for me that was missing. Normally I love historical fiction although am burnt out on World War II. I mean how many times can I read about this same Time in history over and over again. Ugh!
I gave this three stars because I did find the writing itself absolutely stunning. ...more

It took me a few chapters to really get into this book because the two story lines felt disconnected to me. Once I got about 15% through however, I was hooked! Such a great story, and the weaving of the two lines was fantastic! I really enjoyed finding out how the two entwined, and the prose was beautiful in its simple illustration of the world they lived in. Great great story :)
