What Members Thought

For a short book, this took me a long time to read. As much as I admired the writings and particularly the characterization, I wasn’t really drawn in and kept putting it aside for other things.
But the second half of the book really got me. It wasn’t so much Lennie - to be honest, I kept putting myself in the place of the girl and the woman and the dead tiny creatures and I didn’t really have as much sympathy for him as I was clearly meant to.

Not much for me to say about this classic that would be of any use. This is the first of Steinbeck's works for me and my first thought is that I wish it were longer. It's a simple, heartbreaking story without pretense.
