I've enjoyed Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen on TV and movies for a long time now. For some reason, I have never picked up the original novel, however. But when my favourite author, Patrick O'Brian, considered her his favourite author, I simply had to pick the book up.

I tried this book when I was 16 and was completely unable to get into it and ended up abandoning it but trying it again now and it has very quickly become one of my favourite books. Really I was expecting it to be quite a dry read but Austen is really funny and her characters are just so loveable. This is a book I could see myself re-reading many times.
