Shelves: meh

Ehhh, don't know how i feel about this book. Some parts were funny.
But most of the book involves

- fart,barf, alien related lame jokes
- Excessive cursing
- The narrator repeatedly calling himself "A Colossal Jackass".
- How weird he is and how stupid their movies are.
- And constantly saying how dumb and disgraceful the book is and how he can't believe that we
are still reading the book.
(And repeat the above throughout the book)

Shelves: realistic-fiction, fiction-nos

Enjoyable, but somehow disappointing. I suppose that is mostly because of my preconceived notions of what the book was likely to be. I mean, when you pick up a book about high school kids, one of whom is dying...Well, I just thought there'd be more insight, more of a lesson contained within.

It is not devoid of point. There's conceptions of friendship, teenage perceptions and the trials of high school. But there was surprising little viewpoint given of the "dying girl" throughout the book.

The weird style of narration didn't do it for me on this one. Points for creativity, but I really struggled to slog through this one. I did consider a DNF a couple of times. The ending was decent, which may have given it a bit of salvation in the star rating. ...more
