Oh my god I finally finished this book! The quality of writing is good, well developed characters, no plot holes. I have always taken issue with books about high society, and this is one of them. The main character lives in a world of convention, and he seems to want to buck it, but he never does. He feels suffocated by it, and I would too. The past couple of books I've read ('Mansfield Park', 'The Sound of Fury' and 'The Ambassadors') haven't been able to truly retain my attention. I am not sure why but I wasn't immediately hooked into any of their stories like I typically am with acclaimed literature. It has been rather disappointing to start three novels in a row and find each of them struggling to keep my attention.
