This is probably my favourite Erik Larson book. I knew the story of the Lusitania but here it is brought to life. Larson makes it real with descriptions of not only the passengers and crew of the Lusitania but also with insight into the U boat captain and his mission. All in all an excellent historical novel.

An intereting look at the story from both sides we all have heard but really fully understood. The author does a great job of explaining how the events unfolded. This is another example of how hard communications are in times of crisis. I enjoyed the read and would recommend it to all history buffs.

Dead Wake is a nonfiction book about the events leading up to the sinking of the Lusitania. The fallout of what happened after for the ships captain, the survivors and the world leaders and why Wilson and the United States finally joined in the war.
