I can pinpoint the moment I fell for this book: when Sancho Panzo tries to tell Don Quixote a convoluted story about a man trying to get his many goats across a river with a single boat, and demands that Don Quixote keep track of the number of goats that have crossed the river so far. Of course our put-upon knight errant cannot (who could?), and so Sancho ends the story abruptly.
