I'm on page 202 of 682 of Jane Eyre, and I admit defeat. I am giving up so that I don't die of boredom. People whose opinions I respect love this book, which is why I read past 50 pages, and I apologize to them for giving up, but every time I try to read this, I fall fast asleep. It took me two days to get past pp. 150-160--a bad sign for someone like me who is a fast reader. And right now I am on chapter 14, where I will not go further. I am on Christmas break.
