It took me forever to read this book, partially because I'd seen the movie and knew how everything would end, but also because it's kind of slow. I'm in the minority in that I actually liked Briony and sympathized with her throughout the novel. She was a dreamer who believed that life can be as simple as the stories she made up in her head. I like what the novel had to say about storytelling. But God was it boring sometimes especially Part 2 with Robbie and the war. There were a few moments that ...more
