When I first read this book, it was for my 10th grade AP English class, and our teacher, Mr. Ertl, was a huge fan of The Great Gatsby. Our class spent weeks analyzing everything about this book, and then watched the movie. I never understood why this book is considered to be phenomenal. This year's book club pick under the "Classics" category. I really loved this book but knowing that Leonardo DiCaprio is playing the title character in the new movie is a little strange for me. I think Leo is a marvelous actor but throughout the book Gatsby's brilliant smile keeps being mentioned and Leo just doesn't have one. I kept picturing Robert Redford who played the original Jay Gatsby. That is a man with a brilliant smile.
