Shelves: favorites, classics
The language is devine! I read this as part of my A Level Literature and it was a joy because of the language, the era and the discussions this book brings up. A beautiful classic.

This book hits differently when you're in your forties than when you're in your teens, that's for sure. I remember reading it as a "classic" in the early years of college and not really enjoying it. Now, with two and a half decades more under my belt, I think I was able to appreciate it more.

There isn't anything I can say about it that hasn't already been said. It's a quintessential great American novel, and age has brought context but also a patina of dated-ness. It's still an enjoyable read/ l

Es tut mir wirklich sehr leid um dieses Buch, denn ich wollte es wirklich mögen. Ich wollte es lieben und immer und immer wieder lesen. Aber... es hat mir einfach nicht gefallen.
Ich verstehe ja die Geschichte und die Symbole, die Wichtigkeit dieses Werkes. Grünes Licht, Daisy, American Dream gone wrong. Verstehe ich alles, kann ich alles nachvollziehen.
Ist ja an sich auch eine ganz nette Geschichte. Das muss man dem Buch ja auch als positiv zuschreiben können.
