I do not generally read popular fiction, but this book came to me recommended by a friend whose literary taste I admire and trust. The fact that this book was attracting extreme and passionate reviews was also interesting to me.

To me, this is not a “cancer book” at all – the cancer could have been replaced with, say, ALS, with little difference. This book is about life and love and existential questions: is it really important that we leave our mark in this world? Can we even do good without doi

On teenage angst and drama...

I liked the way I imagined John Green saying every witty line in this book (nerdfighter!). I'd have given this 5 stars if it weren't so bloody sad and kept reminding me of Nicholas Sparks' A Walk to Remember for obvious reasons.

After a while it became laborious reading this book. This is not to say it was a bad book. Actually, it is a well-written book that tugs at the heart-strings. Green is to be commended for creating three teen characters who were complex and authentic and who illicit genuine care and sympathy from the reader.

Overall, this was a good book and I look forward to the movie that is being based on this book.
