What Members Thought

I do not generally read popular fiction, but this book came to me recommended by a friend whose literary taste I admire and trust. The fact that this book was attracting extreme and passionate reviews was also interesting to me.
To me, this is not a “cancer book” at all – the cancer could have been replaced with, say, ALS, with little difference. This book is about life and love and existential questions: is it really important that we leave our mark in this world? Can we even do good without doi ...more

Every so often, about once every five years, I read a book that's so amazing, I first get aggravated that I didn't write it, and then go out and buy it for everyone I know. I recommend it to people in bookstores, in conversations, on social media... I can't shut up about it. This is one of those books.

After a while it became laborious reading this book. This is not to say it was a bad book. Actually, it is a well-written book that tugs at the heart-strings. Green is to be commended for creating three teen characters who were complex and authentic and who illicit genuine care and sympathy from the reader.
Overall, this was a good book and I look forward to the movie that is being based on this book.

What should be a sad book is filled with love, hope, and reality. There's a lot to think about.

I love this book! It was sad, funny and beautifully written. If you love YA, you have to read this book.
