Hazel and Augustus are teenaged cancer survivors who meet at a kids cancer survivor group. They are immediately attracted to one another. These are not normal teenagers...their disease has caused them to mature in ways that most of us can not imagine. Despite their realistic world view (or perhaps because of it), they each have a wickedly fun sense of humor that may cause you to laugh out loud. Along with Hazel and Augustus, we also meet their parents and friends who are just as humorous and lov ...more

The fault in our stars was my first John green book and I certainly enjoyed it. There are many non fantasy YA books out there but many of those are about catty teen bitchy girls with lots of sex, drinking and girls just being mean. Or there are the sappy teen love stories. This story had teen lovers sealing with adult issues like cancer and dying and making sense of what life they have all while loving each other intensely. I found this book to be very easily readable with light and humorous wri ...more

My Thoughts: What can I even possibly say about this one that hasn’t already been said? Probably not much.

We are introduced to Hazel who is a teenager who has cancer. She’s on a drug that keeps the tumors down but you never know when it could come back. She struggles everyday. She has to carry an oxygen tank with her everywhere she goes. Her life is not fun.

Her mom suggests she attend a weekly support group. She doesn’t want too but wants to make her parents happy. She meets a boy named Augustus

After a while it became laborious reading this book. This is not to say it was a bad book. Actually, it is a well-written book that tugs at the heart-strings. Green is to be commended for creating three teen characters who were complex and authentic and who illicit genuine care and sympathy from the reader.

Overall, this was a good book and I look forward to the movie that is being based on this book.

This book was fantastic. I found myself drawn in and unable to put the book down, waiting for the next step in the journey. An agonizingly sad book, do not read this in public unless you want to be seen with tears running down your cheeks!
