Ngl I need to reread this book because when it came out I had covid, and I think I missed a lot through sheer inability to process much. That aside / despite that, it was deeply enjoyable and I loved crying happy and sad tears over my faves. I adore how this series is developing and the care KD puts into the growth of this world and its core cast.

If you are emotionally invested in these characters (and how could you not be if you've read the previous two books), be warned that you will scream and cry. If you're anything like me, you'll also feel the urge to send the author some strongly worded DMs. However, you will also have to admit to the author that you love him for the growth and healing the characters experience. Absolutely pick up The Hourglass Throne, but make sure you have adequate time to process the emotional damage before you

Second read, even better than the first. Can't believe I have to wait an unknown amount of time for more

I was given my eARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly... I adored this book but it wasn't without pain. I think it was the perfect end to the first "trilogy" arc of The Tarot Sequence. I loved how many moments that, when I reread the first two books, I realized had been strongly hinted to prior.

What an amazing sequel! The Hourglass Throne continues what started in The Last Sun and The Hanged Man: breathless action combined with deep, meaningful emotions. The found family grows ever closer. Secrets are revealed. I laughed, I cried, I loved every single scene.

This series is an absolute masterpiece. Which isn’t new information, but this third book just reaffirms it in my brain.
So many secrets revealed, so many plot twists that frankly had me VERY STRESSED for Rune and his misfit found family + dinosaur. I was just desperate for them to all be okay.
What a captivating story of trust, healing, and companionship for the finale of arc one. I can’t wait for the next book - I need answers!!! The people must know!!!

This series has my whole heart. A character-driven urban fantasy set in a queer-norm society featuring the found family of my dreams? Seriously, I could read these books over and over again.
As the third book of The Tarot Sequence, The Hourglass Throne is a thrilling and feelings-filled finale to the first arc of the series. In this trilogy, each book is even better than the last. I didn’t know it was possible to surpass The Hanged Man, but The Hourglass Throne did it.
(Spoilers for The Hanged Man) The Hourglass Throne’s look into Rune’s life as the newest Arcana (End of spoilers for The Hanged Man) is full of magic, political intrigue, prophesy, and a very different threat than the last two. There are also some really interesting leads that I’m sure will be explored later that tie back to Rune’s past that are really ...more

How many authors are able to create a universe and characters so compelling that they sustain ongoing reader discussion and theorizing based on prose alone? Not films, not graphic novels, just words on a page? This is what The Tarot Sequence has accomplished and K.D. Edwards deserves immense credit for making that happen.
The Hourglass Throne is the capstone of the first of three trilogies in The Tarot Sequence, and it is everything readers of the first two volumes had imagined it might be. But ...more
