There was an alarming sense of distance in these stories I was not expecting. Not that I couldn’t connect to them, rather, they were so in their own worlds that I often felt consciously like a visitor. The best way I can describe it, is it’s like listening to someone, as a child, try to persistently explain directions to their house.
