In many ways Rilla of Ingleside is quite different to the rest of the Anne books, mainly because of the sombre WW1 setting but also because Anne very much takes the back seat. Nevertheless it is still has all the qualities that make this series so wonderful, and in many ways it reminded me of some of the earlier novels in which Anne is 'coming of age' as this is certainly what happens to Rilla.
