My dear and steadfast friend, so wonderful to be reunited once more in glorious evenings, with many well-loved characters, extremely comical scrapes, gentle reveries in good old-fashioned English.
I should say here once and for all that my favourite characters are dear Marilla and Mrs Lynde, for the colour they bring to the story, but also for their venerable insights that oftentimes made me laugh out loud, making my mother come in the room and check on me:)).
I must have been a dreadful friend no

Passionate, intelligent, wonderful Anne. I love the way Anne effects others and the beautiful descriptive writing showing the love of the author for PEI and nature in all its glory.

'Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out that there are so many of them in the world.'

I will write a longer review shortly…

I absolutely ADORED this delightful and charming novel.
Anne is one of those characters that sneaks her way into your heart, and stays there. It was so beautiful to see her growing up and learning so many valuable life lessons.
Set in the quaint but captivating town of Avonlea, this is a novel that I know I will be re-reading many times!!

2019: So many new lessons to learn! Definitely a classic to come back to. This time I learned a lot from Anne’s approach to spirituality and religion. How she prays and shows reverence. And then how she changes her mind about religion or Christianity when she meets the new ministers wife. So good!

2017: 4.5 stars- I went through a journey with this book. I started out enjoying reading about curious little Anne and seeing the Cuthberts come to love her. Then I got bored and wondered how long I co

I so enjoyed reading this book again. Even though I loved it as a child it far exceeded my expectations reading it once more as an adult. I think it is true to say that any truly good children's book will always be worthwhile reading no matter what your age.

Anne is such a delightful character even with all her foibles - in fact these are probably a major part of why she is so appealing. As a reader it is always heartening to see your own faults in others. And of course, Anne's tendency of being

I have read this again for the back to classics reading challenge reread a classic category.
Read ATY 2022: book on list of 100 greatest YA books of all time
Reditt redux: YA book, set in a country not my own that exists today, a book that became a movie, book where a stranger comes to town.
As a teenager I loved this book because of Anne. She is highly imaginative and prown to trouble but always kind. This is a mix I like her capacity for trouble creates good story lines ( to give you a taste s

Perfect book to read after the sheer horror fest that was 1984 (which was a very good book mind you, but scared the hell out of me). Nothing prepared me for the way I fell in love with this sweet whimsical tale. The small-village setting worked perfectly for me, the characters were sweet and funny and most of the time very loveable and you can't help but fall in love with Anne Shirley and her fiery and imaginative personality. There's not really one big plot that continues throughout the book, ra ...more
