Rather than focusing on Hingson's escape from the World Trade Center on 9/11, this book is more about a blind man living and coping with a sighted world. Although it was wonderful that he and Roselle (his guide dog) were able to walk down 78 flights of stairs together, I found it much more fascinating to learn about his ability to adapt to his surroundings and accomplish way more than I would have thought possible. This book was not as much about the dog as the cover and title would have you expect. That being said, I really enjoyed it. Yes, he has a guide dog, but that is not the dominant theme. The author's description of things he does to cope/adapt with being blind reminded me a lot of a friend and former coworker who was blind; he said many of the same things and had a similar attitude about a lot.
