If you are a library lover, then this is your book. It is almost like a collection of five interrelated short stories, each one focusing on a yearning in someone’s life that was fulfilled in some manner by visiting the local library. Each chapter focuses on one, but we may see flashes of that person in later stories as well. Themes of community, aging, marriage and family, career concerns, something for everyone in this book!

Definitely charming. I loved the Reference Librarian. The individuals who visited the community center for classes and then visited the library were interesting in their situations, age, and desire to find themselves. The messages for those endeavors were strong and meaningful for the most part.
Quibbles - I found the retired gentleman’s story in the end of the book a bit of a let-down after the other three. I am not sure if it was ageism, but his chapters seemed to have less focus on something ...more
