Yes. Leg-hump worthy, as one friend said, true. Exceeds expectations, as another one said, also true. I call this one my "jello book". It's like falling into a swimming pool filled with jello. Easy to fall in, hard to crawl back out of.
I started reading Stephen King in high school, maybe even middle school. When I read him, I expect a thrill-ride, a spine-tingle, you know....King. You expect what he consistently delivers. This book was so much more.

I was trying to decide what to rate this...I knew it was excellent, but did it have that something extra to give it the 5? I decided that for a book of this length to keep me so engaged for so many pages...it did. There was a small section that was a bit more factual than story, but I was never bored. I haven't read much King before and was surprised at how readable this book was. I got totally caught up in Jake's decision and what he had to do to carry it out. The time-travel made for an intere

This is the story of Jake Epping (aka George Amberson,) who goes back in time with the hopes of saving President John F. Kennedy from being assassinated on 11/22/63. He arrives through a "rabbit-hole" into September of 1958, where he lives and works while investigating Oswald and deciding his next move. He learns that any and all changes in history create the butterfly effect, causing a ripple in history. Is it worth it?

Book grabs you and never lets you go. Time travel, changing history (alternate reality), love story, history lesson-it all works together. Story stayed with me when I had to put book down to do mundane everyday things. Couldn't wait to get back to it.
Not a huge Stephen King fan, actually haven't read any of his stuff since the mid-80s, but what a storyteller! Loved that he didn't shy away from the good or bad of the early 60s instead met them head on. I'd be surprised if a movie wasn't made. ...more

Great story! Enjoyed Stephen King's take on time travel. Enjoyed the twist on the JFK assasination. Once the main character finally got to THE day, I could not put it down. Enjoyed the ending very much. Not the direction I thought it would go but better. Didn't mind Mr. King sharing his political views. Put off though by the 100 page blatant plug for another of his books which I haven't read and now probably never will. On the whole though a great book.

what a thought provoking book, full of messages and portents of possible futures. I enjoyed immersing myself into 1958-1963 in Jake / George's view of the world back then, a world almost forgotten, or sometimes never known. ...and in the case of Big Band music, much loved.

As much as I want to like Stephen King books, I just don't. This was an audiobook I listened to and it was dreadful. I think part of what I didn't like was the reader . . . he drove me nuts.
