Now THAT was fun! Fast paced. Loved the setting. Loved the characters both human and dragon. Was this completely new in any way? Not really. It is really hard in this over saturated genre to present an idea or concept that hasn't been done. So, I'm looking for characters I like and can root for. A world I enjoy spending time in that doesn't require huge info dumps to understand. Magic that is interesting and makes sense to the plot. All these fantasy characters seem to be whiny at the start. 2 very spicy chapters included in what I would describe as a mashup of how to train your dragon and divergent, with some Enders game thrown in. Very much fits the YA dystopian genre except for the 2 chapters. Not sure I’d let my 15 YO read without a disclaimer but to adults that enjoy YA, this is for you! Plus dragons. 🐉

I am going agains the general review consensus here, but this book was 3.5 stars rounded down to 3 stars for me. I'm not sure why everyone else has given it such rave reviews, but for me while there was good world building, the gist of the story is an oft told tale. But there were dragons! That's a plus.
