4.5 rounded down. The rounding down is because I felt part of this dragged too much. It's a great story and, for the most part a great book, but I felt tighter editing would have made this a 5 star book!

This should be the companion read to empire of pain! Even though it’s fiction it shows how addiction impacts rural America, as told by the boy/man who lived it. It interweaves the OxyContin influx, generational issues, and death. Harrowing at times but a necessary read for better understanding cycles and addiction, especially in rural areas.
