I found Black Cake a challenge to get absorbed into. The way Wilkerson slid between generations (which normally isn’t an issue for me) was jolting and the story as a whole just overwhelmed me. It is a worthy read to judge for yourself however, as most GR reviewers really enjoyed it.

Loved the flow of this book and the character development. So many intertwined themes! Very sorry when it ended. Hope to see more by this new author very soon.
