Set in a dystopian near-future, twelve-year-old Noah “Bird” Gardner must navigate a world in which children are removed from their families, the Chinese are held responsible for a recent “crisis,” and Americans are living under a new law intended to Protect American Culture and Traditions (PACT). Bird’s mother disappeared from his life three years ago. She is a poet whose verse is being used as a slogan for the protest movement. He misses her and decides to find her.

I try to be honest in my review of a book, because I mostly write them to bring them back to my mind or for when people ask me what I would recommend. Sadly, this Ng book fell flat for me. I'm not a raving fan of Ng, although I have read a few of her books and rated them as 3 or 4 star reads, so I was expecting to like this also.
