This had some nice things going for it. The overall concept. The importance of art and storytelling in difficult times. The exploration of what makes a good parent. The characters of Bird and Sadie. I’m failing to comprehend all the five star reviews on this one. It felt ike a regurgitated version of 1984 or any other dystopian fiction where the government controls the people. There was nothing unique or interesting here. The story was slow, oh so painful slow. Sixty some pages in and we’re still trying to figure out what a picture of a bunch of cats the main character received on page 2 is all about. And what’s with the lack of quotations around dialogue?
