I got more than halfway through this so I’m marking it as read. But I just can’t stay with this. I’ve been in a book reading block for a couple of months now. I can’t really get into anything that’s not a reread. So maybe this book is a victim of that. But it felt to me like she was determined to throw ghosts in. (I love a good ghost story, so when the ghost aspect feels forced, it’s a turnoff.) Also, the main character has an invisible pet bird. Who has an attitude and gets huffy, etc. Except, ...more

This was just ok for me. I didn't hate it, but it didn't move me at all. I really enjoyed the first book I read by this author, but I think after that one, the magical feelings are gone. This one felt predictable and trite. I liked the setting and the descriptions of the town in this one better than the characters. The characters all felt wimpy. Not one of them had any real spark for me. They all just seemed nice. Even the mean characters felt too flimsy. I found the main character to be immatur ...more

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me review this ARC.

I am a long time fan of Sarah Addison Allen, and have eagerly waited on news of a new book from her. When I found out she had a new book Other Birds coming out this summer, I knew I had to read it.

Allen's newest book takes place in South Carolina and has several POVs as it follows several people living in a small condo unit called the Dellawisp Condos, named after the birds that reside there. This is the story of found family, ghosts, love,
