The Dictionary of Lost Words was an interesting read. Though fiction, there were so many cited facts, that it was educational as well as entertaining.
The story is about choices and opportunities in a time when one would think there were none, particularly for women. The story, obviously, is also about words: Those valued and those not. The plot included a number of historical events - and didn't shy away from the less glorious aspects.
