What Members Thought
First lets just say thank goodness I was born in this time. I cannot imagine being a woman in the late 1800s ( as in this book) where a woman is essentially not recognized as human. Her husband owns her, the children, her earnings etc etc and then has the right to institutionalize her at his will. This is what Elizabeth Packard endured. What????????????? It is True

There were times I LOVED this book. And although I feel guilty saying what I am about to say, I have to admit that my average rating of the book is mainly due to my annoyance of Elizabeth Packard. The title of the book seemingly references the men who tried to silence her. Reading the book, I couldn't help but think that she, herself was her own worst enemy.
