Import work on a crusader in women's rights and rights for the mentally ill. Overall horrifying read as a woman. I especially was impressed with the authors placement of the more well known historical facts of the days, ie Civil War battles, the assassination of Lincoln, etc. which really positioned this story in the larger American landscape. ...more
