What Members Thought

Sophie
"...I only know that the scientists are wrong. The world is flat. I know because I was tossed right off the edge and I've been trying to hold on for 17 years."

Juliette's touch is toxic and deadly. All her life she's done nothing but try to behave, to keep to herself, be small and quiet, so she doesn't hurt people. But now two sides of a warring nation are after her and her abilities, and she is forced to come to terms with her powers.

I LOVED Juliette as a character. I feel like a lot of times

i enjoyed this i really enjoyed this. but ngl its overhyped cuz of tiktok. the writing style i think bothered lots of people, but i quite enjoyed it.

the plot or storyline to this book was great but.. i think the romance between adam and juliette was almost..lets say underdeveloped. it was a bit rushed if anything.

i really liked adam but i think i saw a few red flags that i am willing to ignore.. for now.

but... KENJI KISHOMOTO when i tell u this man is sooooo fine. HE IS SO FINE

i'm really sorry but Juliette was so annoying
LIKE THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE ADAM TO RECOVER AND SHE'S LIKE I WANT TO BE WITH HIM AND IM GOING TO KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T LET ME, LIKE GIRL CALM THE F DOWN-
Adam was so annoying too, all the book he was like "you're mine" or stuff like that, and only once he said "you can choose" like-
and i don't understand how they fell in love¿?, like i can (trying really hard) understand Juliette bc he never look at her as a monster but lik

I really loved this. It was really entertaining and the characters are cool.

Warner is super hot, and Adam... He's okay. I hope we see more of Warner in the second book because boy oh boy.

I also really felt bad about her story, and I sympathized with her. I really liked her personality.

I also liked Warner's personality. He wasn't much how I expected it, I assumed he would be more cold and harder to get, but I can't lie, this submissive mf had me trembling and sweating

Ok, ok. I LOVED this book. It had a mix of action, drama, suspense, romance, everything that makes a book good. I would definitely recommend reading this book. However, there are some lines that are striked through and crossed out suddenly, which may be a bother for some people. However, the storyline is great, and I would encourage, hell, even force you to read this, because it's an amazing book and Tahereh Mafi did a great job on this. ...more

okay so… i would like to start off with the good things, the amazing aspects.

first and foremost: the whole story is threaded with such ruthlessness and gore and it just feels right (NOT LIKE THAT—). it was to be expected in a dystopian fiction, but still, i felt like it was done excellently, right alongside the world-building. the feeling of despair, of hopelessness, of dread was DRIPPING from each and every word and i ate it all up. tasty.

my problems started with what i’ve seen many people poin

my original review from febuary: (i rated it 2.75 stars then)
i could love you, you know. i could treat you like a queen-

ok so this book. i really. really. liked it. this book - in many ways - reminded me of shadow and bone (the first book). the protagonist you root for yet hate their inner monologue, the cardboard cutout of a fictional childhood-friends-to-lovers trope boyfriend, the much more complex morally grey character who also happens to be a love inte

The most interesting dystopia I've read for some time!!
Sure it's not entirely unique withe whole girl has magical powers, falls in love with boy and yada yada yada, but I have to admit it was entertaining as heck!
I devoured this book. The plot twists kept me turning pages until the end. And it was a combination of so many cool concepts!
I loved this book!

very fast paced book! literally read in a few days(slowed down bc of school). the writing style wasn't my favourite. i thought i would fall in love with this but in reality, i really hated it. i love fantasy romances but this storyline personally wasn't my taste but a good book for someone who is into this kind of thing! ...more

I enjoyed this book the characters are good and the plot is well written. I liked how it was written using repetition, numbers and crossing out I thought it summed up what and how Juliet (main character) was thinking. This book was fast paced and very enjoyable. Overall pretty good book not much to complain about.
