Started as national treasure, ended as a rip off Harry Potter (literally so many things were the same as HP 1). Whole thing was confusing and worse, boring.

This book fell really flat for me. It started out pretty strong as a mystery-type novel and then it turned very fantastical very quickly. The fantasy elements wouldn't have bothered me so much if the story and world were easier to follow and imagine. The book took a really big turn once the sci-fi elements were introduced and I didn't understand how the initial mystery at the beginning played into the story.
