What Members Thought
This novel deserves all 5 stars but I will never read it again. From page to page I was going between no one ever needing to read this and the idea that it should be required reading. The writing is absolutely brilliant, spot on in every single way. There were many times I needed to break. My stomach churned throughout most of it. I typically leave five star reads with a smile on my face and immediately wanting to read it again, this is the polar opposite.
I think this is the first time I have given a book five stars, but also would not recommend it to anyone I know.
This story is sickening, triggering, and will be a book I will probably reference in therapy for many years. It is true that the writing is beautiful and makes the story feel incredibly realistic. The subject matter makes this a story no one WANTS to live in. It was a book I didn’t want to read, but I couldn’t help myself and read it all in a day.
