Wow. Well, now that I have (mostly) finished ugly crying....

I don't know if I hate or love Rebecca Yarros for what her books put me through. Rarely have I read such immaculate pacing, such an excellent plot, and such heart-wrenching characters. I would give anything for any of them. I predicted what would happen but HOW it happened and how much I cared was just....something I don't experience very often. This little family--Beckett, Ella, Colt, Maisie, and Ryan--is one I will not soon forget. ...more

I am very selective of romance books that I read. Too cheesy, too smutty, too young, so many things that at this point turn me off of a book. This one was just right. I really liked the characters. Ella had twins, which having twins myself I loved. I loved the small town setting and her strength. Watching her relationship with Beckett evolve was fun to read. I enjoyed that they showed a glimpse into the horror and loneliness of being in the service. It reminded me a bit of a Debbie Macomber nove ...more

I was honestly not expecting this to be as good as it was. I started it with a book club thinking it can't be that bad. I'm telling you now have a box of tissues at the ready and be prepared to ugly cry. It was beautifully written, sweet and sentimental although totally heart shattering. ...more

I saw so many tiktokers raving about this book (perhaps that should have been my first sign), but I found it to be so boring, predictable and repetitive. I glazed over the final 150 pages and it ended exactly where I thought it would.
