A wonderfully touching story about female friendships but also the control of a government and the change of rule. What a slippery slope rights are.
I loved the story of Homa and Ellie. I didn't always love each of them - they made their choices - but oh how I loved how they were with and to each other. I also really appreciated learning more about their country and the regime - the rule, the jailings, the frightening abuses. 4.5 stars, rounded down to 4 stars because she said that Canada Dry was an American product!
I enjoyed this book that focuses on friendship with the political backdrop of the transformation of Iran in the 1970/1980's. I do wish the book would have centered on Homa instead of Ellie. Homa's story was far more interesting.
