This was an okay read, although it wasn't exactly what I expected, and certainly not the kind of story I typically enjoy.

Categorizing this book is a bit challenging. It falls somewhere between romance and women's fiction in my opinion. In the long run, the main focus lies on the heroin discovering herself and her life's purpose rather than her romance with Iwan. This aspect, unfortunately, didn't quite resonate with me, as I generally tend to steer clear of such stories. And here, the love part ...more

I don't know what I expected, but this was not it. It took me a minute to get into it and "find my footing"; but once I did, I was riveted! I also love that Ashley Poston had the foresight to not try into incorporate some kind of suspense (see spoiler for what that means if you've read it). I get frustrated with authors that have a completely predictable plot twist that takes up reading real estate for no reason that adds value to the story, in my opinion. A. I went into this expecting a hot romance, but this was more about grief, finding your place in the world, and living the life that you love. I also found it predictable.
