It's rare I find a story that involves a séance without the typical horror story elements. This story was so fun! I could imagine the rituals and tricks and I would have absolutely attended a séance if I'd been alive at this time.

Told from 2 POV, I really liked getting to know each side of the story. Lenna, our POV 1, is interesting in her skepticism but also her push to try to find her sister's killer. Morley was the meat and bones, giving us the inside look into the society's inter-workings a ...more

This was atmospheric and at times chilling, with interesting descriptions and a cool premise. It was, though, very very slow. I was hoping for more of what the ending gave us throughout the whole book. In other words, I wanted more seances in a book about seances! Give me those ghosts please! On the other hand, I did like the unfolding of the mystery and the final scenes. I think the best part of this book was the sense of girl power/feminism in it. The book overall dragged for me and was fairly predictable, but overall it was a good, quick read.
