What Members Thought

I was really looking forward to reading this book, but unfortunately it was a huge letdown. This isn't my first book by this author, but I almost want it to be my last in case the rest just aren't good either. I will finish this series though. This book was hard for me to pick up and want to read. I pretty much had to force myself to get through it. This was not what I was expecting, but in a good way. I was glad to see some of the more annoying YA tropes avoided, although admittedly I think this book struck me as more NA than YA. I like that I didn't predict every moment (or most of it, really) and the characters were interesting. I think the main character, as usual, could have made better choices but that's what made her "human". I look forward to the next book in a couple of months.

This book was a huge letdown. There was so much going for it, but the main character was insufferable. One thing that I hate is a main character that is stupid. That is what took away from this story so heavily. The author relied on the fact that the main character was "dumb" to help move along the story. If you read books, you will be able to recognize/ guess things way before the main character does. This is simply due to playing the main character off as dumb or naïve.
