Wow.. I freaking loved this!

If you're looking for an Italian-based historical fantasy following a young witch who has to work with one of the Princes of Hell to avenge her twin sister's death, this is for you! The whole book was just beautiful and mesmerising and perfect.

The world-building and atmosphere is interesting and so vivid. It felt so realistic and I so want to live there.

I do not know why I took so long to read this book finally. It is utterly fantastic, and I am currently nursing a book hangover from finishing the second book in this trilogy.

Ok, about the book. The book follows a witch named Emilia who lives in a small Italian town with her family. Emilia has a twin, Vittoria, who is violently murdered, and Emilia vows to exact revenge on those who hurt her sister.

Maniscalco has created a world that draws you in. The tension between the characters is palpable and the secrets that these characters gradually unearth lead to more secrets. I look forward to continuing the series.
